When I started doing CrossFit a little over a year ago I was introduced to Foam Rolling. I never knew something could hurt so bad, but be so good for you. Now I don’t want to scare you away by my last statement, but foam rolling does hurt…a little . But it’s a good kind of hurt! Think deep tissue massage. Foam rolling, also called self-myofascial release, smooths and lengthens your muscles as well as breaks up scar tissue. It’s a great way of relieving tight/sore muscles as well as getting out knots. You really only need to roll an area for 15-20 seconds and ideally it will only take 10 minutes out of your day. You will find that you start to LOVE foam rolling like I do, and you look forward to doing it every day!
I’m really excited to share with you all a new foam rolling product that I’ve recently found that I think will revolutionize foam rolling. It’s call the VYPER and it’s made by this company Hyperice, which is backed by Blake Griffin and Adrian Peterson. The VYPER is described as a potable multi-purpose device that used the combination of pressure and vibration to loosen up muscles and increase circulation.
What makes this foam roller different than all other foam rollers out there, is the motor inside the foam roller. The VYPER uses a rechargeable high-powered lithium ion battery, (the same type of battery that powers a Tesla), to deliver 3 different frequency levels through a high-performance air injected polypropylene shell.
It’s designed to lengthen muscles and increase circulation, helping reduce soreness and stiffness in muscles for better recovery and a lot of pro-athletes have been using it and sending their feedback to the company.
You can purchase one HERE through their KickStarter Campaign!
Here’s a great video from their KickStarter campaign that tells you all about the VYPER.
