My mother got Nash a Nintendo Switch for his birthday and he loves it! We hook it up to the TV to make it life size and he plays with it for hours. We recently got the new Starlink Battle for Atlas Starter Pack and our house has been playing it non-stop.
The starter pack comes with the game for Nintendo Switch as well as two pilots, a starship, 2 weapons and a housing station. This is where you would start but you can also add a Starship Pack, which gives you another starship, a weapons kit which gives you 2 additional weapons and a pilot kit which will give you another pilot. I believe there are a bunch of different options.
I think the first think I should do is explain how the game works. Once you put the card in, it walks you through step by step instructions on how to set up your starship. You take both of your controllers and load it into the housing and link it to your Nintendo Switch. After that, you pick your pilot and put him onto the housing. After that you pick your starship, and lastly you decide if you want to use weapons (you don’t have to add the weapons, it will shoot lasers if you don’t).
Nash loved building his starship! He even got the help of his younger brother Rhett. I feel like I should mention that the pieces are super sturdy and while the game it probably made for older kids, Nash, who is 4, had no problem flying the ship and I don’t feel like it would break easily.
The game was a lot of fun! It was neat to see the starship you chose come alive on the big screen. One of my favorite features is you can switch out the pilot or weapons at anytime during the mission and it instantly shows up on the game. Each pilot and weapon has different strengths and weaknesses so you can use them according to the situation you are in, in the game.
You can play this game in single player or with a friend in two-player split-screen local co-op. I”m not going to lie, it was originally just supposed to be for Nash, but I started playing it and it was really fun. So I can now touch that it’s a game kids and adults! If you are looking for the perfect holiday gift, there’s still time to get the Starlink Battle for Atlas! If you order online, you can pick it up in store before December 25th (at participating stores).
Starlink Battle for Atlas is available on Nintendo Switch, the PlayStation®4 and Xbox One.
