A few weeks ago I got to travel across the pond to London for an incredible night of fights for Bellator! While most of the time I’m traveling for work, I have obligations that keep me around the venue and hotel, I always try to explore a city for at least one day I’m in town. With this trip being London, I wanted to at least head into Piccadilly Square to take in a little bit of the sites, hit a pub for some good fish and chips, and I wanted to try out my new DIJ Osmo pocket recorder. If you check out my video above, you can seethat it takes incredible 4K video!
Probably the best thing about the Osmo pocket, is that it is super lightweight and compact, it can literally fit in your pocket or your purse and a packs a pretty big punch when it comes to the pictures and videos that you can take with it.
It can stand alone as its own individual recorder, or you can hook it up to your smart phone and download the DIGI app and control the OSMO Pocket from there. You’ll want to pick up a micro SD card do you can store the pics and videos you take on the pocket.
There’s a ton of incredible features, but I think the most impressive is the handheld gimbal with advanced stabilization to give you shake free footage. It’s 3-axis mechanical handheld gimbal, the smallest one DIJI has ever made and what it does is precisely adjust for your movements, turning your handheld video into a movie-lied scene by keeping everything smooth and not shaky. For those of you that are up on your camera gear, think of it like a mini steady cam.
The DIJI app has so many amazing functions for capturing incredible content. My favorite is the templates that it gives you in story mode. You can see that I shot a video with the story mode function in my video above and it’s pretty amazing! It gives you a template with suggested video frames on how to actually shoot the video. This really allows you to really capture a great story but use their effects and transitions and music. It basically makes you an expert story editor without having to know a lot of editing.
For those of you that do you know some editing, the DIJI app has built-in editing features within it and really can be a phenomenal tool to take on any family vacation or travel trip, especially in situations where space is limited and you don’t want to pack a lot of camera equipment.
Here’s some of my other favorite features:
Motion timelapse mode
Osmo Pocket helps you record the passage of time. Just mark where you want the camera movement to start and end, and tap Start to create moving timelapses without additional specialist equipment.
Shoot smooth and cinematic footage + Stores video and photos
With access to several intelligent functions, such as ActiveTrack, Motionlapse, and Panorama, it unleashes your creativity with filming effects that are impossible with smartphones.
Supports micro SD, micro SDHC and micro SDXC cards with up to 256GB capacity.
For anyone traveling this summer or looking to capture some incredible 4K footage of their family or kids, the DIJI Osmo Pocket will not disappoint!
