So I am sitting in my hotel room in Omaha because I am working the College World Series, which I LOVE! When I get a text message from Andrew, the SID for South Carolina’s baseball team, saying, “We saw Jessica Mendoza hit some batting practice with Arizona. You are more than welcome to come take batting practice with us if you want.” I then informed Andrew that I would come say hi, but as for BP, Jessica has 2 Olympic medals, I however, was a pinch runner in college.
So the video speaks for itself, I got talked into taking some swings. I’m pretty sure Coach Tanner said they weren’t leaving until I stepping in the cages and took some cuts. I don’t think I embarrassed myself too much…except when I attempted to hit from the right side. Coach Tanner said he’d bat me first, so it couldn’t have been all that bad. All in all, a very fun and memorable experience.
