I recently got the opportunity to try out the new Arlo Baby Smart Monitoring System before it became available to the public and I am so excited to tell all of you about how much I love this camera! We’ve had it set up in both boys rooms for 2 weeks now and this system does everything. It features 1080p HD Video playback, night vision, a lullaby player, 2-way talk, a multi-colored night light, air sensors plus a rechargeable battery. It provides live monitoring and smart alerts on your smartphone, tablet, computer and even on your smart watch!
So first, right out of the box it was super easy to set up. I was able to connect both cameras to the wifi, set up the app and was I using the cameras in less than 10 minutes. On the app, I was able to name each camera with a custom name for each boy which is great for when you get notifications on your phone. You can also select which kind of notifications you want to receive for each camera. You can get emails or mobile alerts on your phone. Now I opted to do just mobile notifications through my iPhone because it will send you an alert every time there is movement or a noise in the room and this can be a bit much during the day if you are getting emails. You can also choose to turn the notifications off during the day, which can be done under settings for the app during the day for when your kids are in their room playing. There’s also a baby crying alert that will tell you specifically if your baby is crying. I’ve included a picture of the notifications on my phone.
Now let’s talk about the picture quality! Having 1080p HD video playback that is so crisp and clear is such a great thing because you can actually see what your kids are doing. The advanced night vision lets you see your baby’s every move, even in total darkness. The near-invisible infrared LED lights let you little ones sleep is distraction-free. There’s also a cool smart multi-colored night light that lets you pick from thousands of colors to give a little glow or turn on if you need to enter a dark room to check on the little one without turning the light on. The Smart Music players allow you to choose from soothing lullabies or white noise send your baby to sleep each night. You can even record your own voice and manage music playing remotely from your smartphone. There’s a 2-way talk feature that allows you to listen and talk to your baby straight from your phone.
With the Air Sensors, you can monitor the nursery’s air condition, including temperature, humidity, and VOCs level. You can even be alerted whenever something is not in your desired range. We actually got to see this work first hand when the heater in Rhett’s room was turned up too high and it notified me that the temperature was too hot and the air quality needed to be checked as well. It turned out that everything was ok, but it was so nice having that peace of mind to know that if it were to happen again, we would know immediately.
Another one of my favorite features is you can get updates on your Apple Watch! I actually didn’t even know it had this function and I didn’t set it up on my watch, but the next day, I started getting notifications on my watch. This is great if you are doing stuff around the house and you don’t want to carry your phone everywhere with you.
You can easily share camera access, or specific videos, with friends and family so everyone’s caught up on how fast your little one is growing. I was able to give Wes, my mother, and our nanny an invite to create their own accounts so they can log in and watch the boys or get notifications when they are babysitting. Arlo also has the ability to record motion or sound-triggered events and save them in your cloud Library to be viewed, downloaded, and shared for 7 days, for FREE. I also love that we can log in from anywhere in the world and see the boys as well. When we were in Europe last week we were constantly checking in on the boys and watching them play during the day!
Another awesome feature that none of my previous baby monitors had the ability to do is go chord free! I love that you can move the camera freely around your home for hours at a time with a built-in rechargeable battery. We brought the monitor with us on vacation and this came in handy during naps on the go. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how cute the monitors are! They come with interchangeable animal ears (ours are green bunnies) and you can order other ones on their website! As you can see by the pictures above Rhett loves the bunny!
